Yaz Lawsuit Legal Information

Yaz Lawsuit Update 05/18/2012: Although Bayer has indicated that it plans to start making settlement offers on the 11,000 plus Yaz Lawsuits it currently faces, new Yaz Lawsuits are still being filed. On or about April 04/24/12 Case Number 3:12-cv-20100-DRH-PMH was filed on behalf of 4 adults and one minor child. The Yaz Lawsuits were filed in the United States District of Court of Minnesota.

The Yaz Lawsuit was filed on behalf of all plaintiffs involved as a single lawsuit although each plaintiff’s damages were set forth individually.

This Yaz Lawsuit was filed based on the following cause(s) of action: strict products liability, breach of express and implied warranty, negligence, negligence per se, fraudulent misrepresentation, fraudulent concealment, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment brought by Plaintiffs for damages associated with their ingestion of the pharmaceutical drug YAZ/Yasmin, also known generically as Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol .

It has yet to be determined how many more Yaz Lawsuits Bayer will have to face. It is clear that the case is not near an end despite the fact that Bayer is already in settlement talks with a large number of plaintiffs that have already filed a Yaz Lawsuit.

Ohio Building Owner Illegally Disposed of Asbestos Products

A federal jury has indicted a building company and its owner on charges of improper asbestos abatement after products containing the dangerous fiber were found illegally disposed of.

Asbestos Lawsuit: According to the Lorain Chronicle-Telegram, Lorne J. Elbert Jr. and his company – Elbert Building Co. Inc. – were indicted on EPA charges of illegally removing asbestos from the city’s former Builders Square building that the company owns.

After contacting a licensed asbestos abatement company in June 2007 to inquire on pricing for the removal of 800 square feet of asbestos insulation from the building’s boiler room before it was demolished, Elbert Building Co. received a $4,900 quote for the work to be performed, according to the indictment. While Elbert informed the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency that it would be using a licensed asbestos contractor for the project, it instead paid an unlicensed individual $35 to do the work one month later.

Mesothelioma Information: During an inspection by the Ohio EPA that followed the work, inspectors found four drums that contained dry asbestos products, while asbestos particles were also found left behind on the boiler room and in the parking lot, according to the indictment.

Remembering Steve Mcqueen Beloved Actor and Mesothelioma Victim

Steve McQueen was one of the most cherished actors of the 20th century, appearing in such classic films as The Magnificent Seven, Bullitt, and The Thomas Crown Affair. His anti-hero persona allowed him to play challenging roles that most actors were not capable of undertaking. He remains a legend of American cinema.

Asbestos Lawsuit: This March 24 would havemarked McQueen’s 82nd birthday. But sadly, McQueen died of complications from the deadly asbestos-related cancer mesothelioma in 1980 when he was just 50-years-old.

Mesothelioma can affect people from all walks of life, and McQueen was an example of that. While some people are diagnosed with the disease know how they were exposed to asbestos fibers, others have never had noticeable contact with the substance. Shipbuilders, miners and construction workers tend to have higher frequency of mesothelioma exposure because their jobs often required them to come in contact with asbestos materials.

On the other hand, McQueen – who was an actor and stunt man for much of his professional life – did not have as clear a history of prolonged asbestos exposure.

As we remember Steve McQueen’s remarkable career and tragic death, we should also remember the deadly legacy that asbestos carries with it. For much of his life, McQueen could have encountered asbestos materials in building materials, car parts, cleaning supplies, fabrics, cigarette filters, and countless other products.

McQueen once said, “I don’t believe in that phony hero stuff.” He is, however, a hero to many for the way he took on on mesothelioma and tried to fight the disease that has has claimed the lives of so many, and eventually took his. When McQueen died, he was in Mexico still seeking treatments for his disease that American doctors warned could be fatal.

Individuals whose lives have been touched by mesothelioma may have various questions and concerns about the deadly illness. Talc In Cosmetics May Contain Asbestos

The FDA has conducted an exploratory survey of cosmetic products that contain talc and cosmetic-grade raw material talc due to concerns the products may contain asbestos.

According to the FDA, no asbestos fibers were found in any of the samples. However, the results were somewhat limited because the FDA only received talc from four suppliers. The survey concluded that the results were informative but do not prove that all cosmetics containing talc sold in the U.S. are asbestos free.

Asbestos Exposure: Talc is a mineral that occurs naturally and is composed of silicon, hydrogen, oxygen, and magnesium. Scientific literature that dates back to the 1960s has suggested talc may be linked to ovarian cancer.
